(b) Answer the eleven questions s/he asks. (In this case 7)

1. Your most memorable travel mishap story.

The wonderful thing about travelling is that you can’t expect anything to go as planned. This is one of the most exciting parts about travel and one of the reasons why I try not to make an itinerary and just let the trip develop and shape on it’s own. This of course leads to many unexpected mishaps along the way… from forgetting toilet paper in Asian squat toilets to nearly not being allowed through customs because my passport was under the 6 month expiration rule. I think the most memorable was a trip I took to Khao Yai National Park in Thailand one weekend. I travelled by bus to Pak Chong and then by Songtow (taxi truck) up to the base of the mountains. Once arriving I realized that it was impossible to enter the park without a vehicle and that I’d have to walk or turn back.. this led me to choose the alternative route, and stick out the ol thumb for a lift. Sure enough, a lovely couple and their UK friend stopped and we ended up spending the enter afternoon together, trekking the waterfalls and exploring the park!! Be flexible, openminded and don’t let the mishaps detour you from having an adventure!!!

2. What’s the default present you end up buying when you have no idea what to buy for that person?

I’m actually pretty darn good at gift buying and I don’t settle with the reliable gift card very often. It would depend entirely on who I was buying the gift for as the default would change depending on that person’s interest… say it was one of my brothers, I might default with game or a t-shirt. If it was my mum, I’d surely end up getting her something arts and crafty by default. The worst are those people you don’t really know yet, like a new boyfriends family, then I think it’s always best to win them with something for the stomach, home baking!!!

3. Mountain, beach or that road that seems to lead to nowhere?

A road that seems to lead to nowhere along the beach with surrounding mountains.

4. First thing you do when you realize you forgot your wallet.

Depends on what I’m after to buy and the distance.. if it’s food and I’m hungry enough, I’ll go back and get it. I might put something I’m looking to purchase on hold until I get my wallet. Or I might just admit defeat to my stupidity and throw in the towel on the mission. Say it was fate telling me I don’t need that new purchase.

5. One thing that you cannot do without on your travel.

After travelling for quite some time you learn that less is more.. especially when your backpacking! I’m going to make it two things though.. can’t do without my camera or lip chap. Nothing worse then wishing you had a camera to capture a moment or suffering with dry lips on the go.

6. Scream out loud. What do you hear? In my classroom between classes and I can’t scream too loud at work.. but since the room is empty I heard a echo back to me! 7. Why do you blog? I’d wanted to start blogging for a long while before I started my site. I’ve always loved writing and blogging seemed like a great way to express my interests. I hadn’t anticipated feeling as connected in blogging world as I do, it’s been a really rich outlet for me! Couldn’t have been happier to have started.
